Yes, the syllabus is pretty long. It starts from basic atomic structure to even include chemometrics. It's not possible to complete it in short duration no matter you have background in chemistry or not. The syllabus is designed in a way that binds its reader to consult multiple sources; and while doing that surely your preparation would span on considerable time period.
However, the subject is of 200 marks. If your educational background is from chem, then you should think of it to opt. Excluding some parts, the syllabus overall is comprehensible and within the range of preparation.
