NA resolution lashes out at crimes against Rohingyas

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly unanimously passed on Wednesday a resolution condemning what it called `heinous crimes` being committed against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar by religious extremists and calling upon the government to urge the Myanmar government to abide by its obligations to protect them and to seek humanitarian intervention by the United Nations.

It urged all states and human rights activists, `in accordance with their respective obligations and commitments under the international law, to do all acts necessary to protect the peaceful community of the Rohingya Muslims`, which, it said, was `being brutally extinguished in Myanmar`.

The resolution moved by Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Khan commended the courage of the Rohingya Muslims who were bravely facing the genocide campaigns against them.

The house expressed the deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims of the brutalities.
